Our Story
For over twenty-five years, I have devoted my life to mastering the art of professional grooming.
Throughout my career I have had the privilege of grooming everything from beloved family companions to beautifully maintained breed-standard dogs requiring exceptional precision and consistency. I have also found my greatest purpose working with dogs who need a little more understanding—those who struggle with anxiety, fear, or aggression.
I have always believed that behavior is communication.
With patience, empathy, and consistency, grooming can become something a dog learns to trust rather than fear. My goal has never simply been to complete a groom. It has been to create an experience where dogs feel safe enough to return with a little more confidence each visit.
That philosophy became the foundation for Hair of the Dog.
Why We Exist
After years in the grooming industry, I realized that dogs deserved more.
They deserved a space intentionally designed around their comfort. They deserved consistency, quiet, kindness, and craftsmanship. They deserved an environment where quality would never be compromised for speed.
So I made the decision to invest everything I had into creating it.
Hair of the Dog represents years of planning, sacrifice, and unwavering belief in what professional grooming should be. Building this salon has been one of the most challenging endeavors of my life—but also one of the most meaningful.
When the weight of that investment feels overwhelming, I remind myself of one simple truth:
The dogs are worth it.
A Personal Note
The dogs have given far more to me than I could ever repay.
Since the day I picked up my first pair of grooming shears, they have been there through every season of my life. They have greeted me with wagging tails on difficult mornings, made me laugh when I needed it most, and reminded me every single day why I chose this profession.
They helped provide my home.
They helped put food on my family’s table.
They helped buy my son’s first bicycle.
Every milestone I’ve celebrated has been made possible because families trusted me with the dogs they love.
Every dollar I have saved to build Hair of the Dog exists because of them.
In many ways, they earned this salon alongside me.
This is my opportunity to give something back—to create the kind of place I have always wished existed. A place where every dog is treated with patience, respect, extraordinary skill, and genuine love.
